1. Introduction
Imperial English UK is committed to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking do not take place within our operations or supply chains. We strive to promote transparency and ethical practices in our business dealings and expect the same from our partners and suppliers. This Modern Slavery Policy and Statement outlines our approach to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, and exploitation, in compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and related legal requirements.
2. Our Commitment
At Imperial English UK, we believe that modern slavery, in all its forms, is a grave violation of human rights and is entirely unacceptable. We are committed to:
- Preventing and identifying any form of slavery or human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains.
- Taking appropriate action in addressing any instances or suspected cases of modern slavery, trafficking, or exploitation.
- Working collaboratively with suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not part of our operations.
We take a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to promoting ethical practices in every part of our business and academic activities.
3. Our Policies and Approach
- Due Diligence: We conduct appropriate due diligence in assessing the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain, reviewing our suppliers, contractors, and business partners to ensure adherence to ethical employment practices.
- Training and Awareness: We provide training and awareness programs for staff, particularly those involved in procurement, HR, and supplier management, to help recognize and report signs of modern slavery.
- Supplier Code of Conduct: All suppliers, contractors, and business partners are required to comply with our code of conduct, upholding fair working conditions and anti-slavery laws.
- Whistleblowing and Reporting: Employees, students, and external stakeholders can report concerns anonymously without fear of retaliation. All reports are investigated promptly.
4. Risk Assessment and Actions
- Supply Chain Monitoring: We continuously assess and monitor the risk of modern slavery within our supply chains, especially in high-risk sectors such as recruitment, construction, cleaning, and outsourced services.
- Collaboration: We collaborate with suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders to share best practices and strengthen efforts against modern slavery, including engaging with industry groups and external experts.
- Contractual Requirements: Clear anti-slavery clauses are included in all contracts to ensure suppliers comply with legislation and take steps to prevent slavery and human trafficking.
5. Reporting Modern Slavery
Any employee, student, or third-party contractor who suspects or identifies incidents of modern slavery or human trafficking should report immediately to:
- Internal Contact: Line manager, HR, or the designated safeguarding officer.
- External Contact: Whistleblowing service or the UK Modern Slavery Helpline at 08000 121 700.
6. Our Supply Chain and Partners
We work with a range of suppliers, partners, and contractors in delivering our educational services. All business relationships reflect our commitment to ethical practices. Suppliers must:
- Ensure workers are not subject to forced, bonded, or involuntary labor.
- Provide fair wages, safe working conditions, and freedom to enter/exit employment.
- Uphold workers' rights to form associations, where applicable.
7. Our Responsibility
Imperial English UK’s senior leadership team, including the board of directors, take ultimate responsibility for implementing this policy. Management ensures compliance with legal obligations and takes action to prevent modern slavery within operations.
8. Monitoring and Review
We continuously review policies and practices to maintain compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Senior management assesses policy effectiveness annually and implements necessary improvements.
9. Conclusion
Imperial English UK is committed to being a responsible business, ensuring modern slavery and human trafficking are not part of our operations or supply chains. We are dedicated to ethical treatment of all individuals and will continue to monitor and improve practices to combat modern slavery. This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure continued effectiveness and compliance with the law.
